TKaos' WIP
« on: October 21, 2009, 04:20:45 PM »
I thought it might be a good idea to give some more information about my recent work, feel free to ask any questions about the DATs.

Atari - 8bit:
- cleanup of publisher (WIP)
- adding new game files (WIP)
- moving files to educational / compilation - games / compilation - applications / docs (WIP)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Apple - II:
- cleanup of publisher (WIP)
- moving files to educational / compilations - games / compilations - applications - (WIP)
- adding new files (WIP)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Apple - IIGS:
- checking the files 1by1 to create better naming (WIP)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Commodore - C16, C116 & Plus-4
- adding more game files (WIP #-A)
------------------------------------------------------------------

DEC:
- adding more files to all DEC DATs (WIP)
------------------------------------------------------------------

Exelvision - EXL100 / Exeltel
------------------------------------------------------------------
- adding new files (WIP)
- rechecking current DATfiles

Note:
(-): is planned but nothing done yet
(WIP): currently working on it
(WIP x-y): done from letter x to y
(DONE): doesn't mean that the DAT is finished at all (imo a DAT is never finished), just what I wanted to do for now.

As soon as a new official datpack is released I will remove everything which is included there, other work remains WIP.

Do you still have an interest in DEC? Will you be splitting these?

Yes sure but atm I don't know how to split the PDP-8 DAT, maybe will be split into MainDEC / DECUS etc, I don't want to split the DATs by the typical "apps/games/demos" since they are all sorted by numbers but that reminds me that I should split the PDP-1 DAT. ;)

I see. The only reason I'm asking is because I'm pretty much going alphabetical down list of DATs and correcting anything spurious (as well splitting the 'VARIOUS' DATs) in the 'orphaned' systems, trying to get alot of the old historic crap fixed up befoe we do a nice new shiney release.

Have been ignoring any with your name in...

Just added a new DAT I'll work on in the future and a small description about the status of those DATs. :)

There will be 4 new categories in Apple II DATs when I'm done splitting them:

[DO]
Filesystem = DOS, there might be files marked as [unk filesys] and have *.do extensions, I do this to keep software in 1 DAT, for example:
Bank Street Speller (1984)(Broderbund)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr Apple Mafia].do
Bank Street Speller (1984)(Broderbund)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr Apple Mafia][unk filesys].do
It would be bad to put disk 2 into the [DSK] DAT because you then would have to search for all files in the 4 different folders to get a complete set.

[PO]
Filesystem = ProDOS, there might be files marked as [unk filesys], read above.

[DSK]
Filesystem = CP/M can be seen by [more info] field [CPM]
Filesystem = Pascal can be seen by [more info] field [PASCAL]
Filesystem = RDOS can be seen by [more info] field [RDOS]
Filesystem = unknown, can't be identified so they stay as *.dsk, files won't have any [more info] field.

[NIB]
Quote
A "disk image" is typically a file containing every data byte on a diskette,i.e. Catalog tracks, files, DOS (if present) etc.. One kind of disk image, NIB, tries to preserve all disk information (e.g. sector headers, sync bytes, etc.).

Feel free to post your opinion about it, atm I'm just done with splitting the Applications DAT which took me quite alot time because it takes more checks than I thought to split them. :P

Took some hours off today so here am i bugging you ;D

Code: [Select]
DATFILE: Atari 8bit - Applications - [ATR] (TOSEC-v2010-05-17_CM).dat
SET: CX85 Reeve Key (1986)(Reeve, Alan)(XL-XE)(PD)
Image 1: Stopped at: (PD)
I need info here, XL-XE is a new unused until now system flag or something like that, right?

Code: [Select]
DATFILE: Atari 8bit - Applications - [XEX] (TOSEC-v2010-05-17_CM).dat
SET: Font Designer v5.0 (19xx)Laser Software)

DATFILE: Atari 8bit - Docs - [ATR] (TOSEC-v2010-05-17_CM).dat
SET: Tricky Tutorial #11 - Memory Map (19xx)Educational Software)[BASIC]

Cya

edit: i need more from you :P
They are probably not errors but just new system flags that i miss, here:

Code: [Select]
Commodore C16, C116 & Plus-4 - Utilities - [TAP] (TOSEC-v2010-01-18_CM).dat
Errors found: 4

SET: Adress C16 (1986)(ComputerSoft Jonigk)(C16)(DE)
Image 1: Stopped at: (DE)

SET: Trojan Lightpen (1986)(Trojan Products)(C16)(GB)
Image 1: Stopped at: (GB)

SET: Trojan Lightpen (1986)(Trojan Products)(Plus-4)(GB)
Image 1: Stopped at: (GB)

SET: Vokabel C16 (1986)(ComputerSoft Jonigk)(C16)(DE)
Image 1: Stopped at: (DE)

DATFILE: Commodore C16, C116 & Plus-4 - Utilities - [PRG] (TOSEC-v2010-01-18_CM).dat

SET: Trojan Lightpen (1986)(Trojan Products)(Plus-4)(GB)
Image 1: Stopped at: (GB)

My comment is that i need to add C16 to system flags. As for the Plus-4, we've Plus4 so it might be the same, if you find that Plus-4 is better the other sets (if any) need to be updated.

For these i would say "586-986" and "586" should be also system flags and i didn't know yet, right? :P

bye

(XL-XE): system flag
(C16): system flag
(Plus-4): system flag
(586-986): system flag (also I asked in member part if we should change the whole system flag TNC) :P
(186-586-986): system flag
(586): system flag

The 2 errors in Atari8bit DATs are fixed, ty.

And thanks gorski. :D
