Before you delete those, are you really sure they should be deleted ?  Is there any other way with Dragon emulation to create a blank disk image (like there is in WinUAE for Amiga) ?  They can be useful if a program requires you to load a blank disk to use for saving settings/savegames etc.

I know ideally everyone would be using a real computer, but that's not gonna be possible at some point...

Yeah, and looks like they come from utility anyway rather than imaging a physical disk.... not the first time we've removed this sort of thing.

On this note, I understand where you coming from, but really don't think its appropriate to include 'emulator' files in the project anyway. Supposed to be cataloguing and preserving actual media, not getting involved in all that.

IMO a decent emu (and associated tools) should be able to generate blank disk images (of whatever types), empty RAM/save carts, blank HD images (for installing installable games etc), all that shit.... We should be concentrating on BIOS images, (actual) disk/disc images, ROM dumps, that sort of thing....

Where' I've noticed a problem in the above dats, I've corrected the TNC "main title - subtitle" issues as discussed in the TNC thread.  I've made a folder with the fixed dats inside your renamers folder - hopefully I've not missed any out!

Big thanks... will have a quick check today.

Was looking at all the DATs I actively maintain last night and I've got fucking loads of ', The's in the subtitles.... will concentrate on correcting these over this weekend....  :-[

Cassiel, I have just renamed most of the dats for the Colecovision manuals.  I have found that the last games dat i have the publishers names in a lot of cases are incorrect.  Also there are at least 20 titles that should be split out into an educational dat to be consistent.

When the Colecovision was released in 1982 Coleco Industries purchased the license from many arcade companies to produce their games on the console.  These were then programmed by Coleco's in house video game division.  Therefore titles such as Donkey Kong should be named Donkey Kong (1982)(Coleco) instead of Donkey Kong (1982)(Nintendo) as Nintendo took no part in the Coleco port of the game.

Coleco also released many educational cartridges under the guise of "Coleco family learning series".  An example of this is Cabbage Patch Kids Picture Show (1984)(OAA - Coleco).  These are the titles that should be in an educational dat.

I will go through the dat soon and when completed send a copy to you so you can change the official dat.

OK....  a big pile of DATs to correct a number of the 'The' and 'A' issues (inc. non-English) as well as lots of Publisher corrections, a few name corrections, and some duplicates removed.

TKaos - I've corrected a couple of the incorrect German names when I was also correcting 'Die'/'Das' etc in Atari 2600. I know you were saying you were going to have a look at this so thought I should warn you that I haven't done it, was just two or three files I changed I think.

quick comment in passing then i'm off out the door again :P

Acorn Electron - Games - [UEF]
"Rising of Salandra, The Part 1 - The Prophecy (1984)(Larsoft Adventures)"

needs a fix, presume it's just "Rising of Salandra, The - Part 1 - The Prophecy", but not got time to check atm

Atari 2600 & VCS - Games
     Anglen (198x)(Ariola)(PAL)(DE)[!][aka Fishing Derby]
Angriff der Luftflotten (198x)(Quelle)(PAL)(DE)[!][aka Paris Attack]
Aufruhr im Zoo (19xx)(Starsoft)(PAL)(DE)[!][aka Zoo Fun]

I noticed the [aka xxx] were removed on those 3 files, but not on any others in the dat - should they have been or should they have stayed?

The rest of the dats have been moved over into the main folder.

I can't really give you an answer about that [aka] thing, it somehow looks like we don't need it but on the other hand could be usefull information for people not speaking german since it seems to say [it's the german version of game x].

RE Electron:
Good spot, my error. Will correct and reupload, but just need to check if 'Rising of Salandra, The - Part 1 - The Prophecy (1984)(Larsoft Adventures)' appropriate or 'Rising of Salandra Part 1, The - The Prophecy (1984)(Larsoft Adventures)' better.

RE 2600
Yes, MOST of other aka should be removed but... I got bored   ;)  Seriously though, I spotted those first three and changed them, but then realised there was like a 100+ more. They're not wrong per se, just 99% of them irrelevant and/or misleading. I've added them to my TOSEC todo list (under "nice to fix") but at the moment there's a thousand other things I'd rather review and correct (must prioritise!).

well i don't know if they are that bad to be a priority / need to remove atm really :P
the atari2600 is much worst in some other aspects like missing all sets after letter H or something, it seems the renamer got away after doing 1/3 of it :P
