I've been going through Commodore 64 stuff I have and I've been annoyed at how the renamed roms sort for multi-disk D64 collections. The "Disk x of x" should IMO be towards the end of the name...it is currently before things like the cracking group. It's annoying because if you have multiple releases of games (I especially noticed it on big games like Alter Ego Male and Female that have multple releases and a large number of disks for the game) You have 20+ files that sort more along the lines of what disk they are instead of the release.
The following are examples, but they are not actual as I don't have my files here in front of me (Alter Ego Male/Female is a good place to go look at in the D64 games dat, tho)...
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr ESI]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr Sharks]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr EP]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr ESI]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr Sharks]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr EP]
...etc...instead of...
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr ESI]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr ESI]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr Sharks]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr Sharks]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 1 of 7)[cr EP]
Alter Ego Male (19xx)(-)(Disk 2 of 7)[cr EP]
I looked through the TOSEC naming convention document and didn't see a specific way to deal with this. Is there anyone that disagrees that this should be changed/fixed? Is there an example in the TNC that I missed that would have explained this?
I used to be involved with DesertWolf in naming the C64 stuff, but that was a few years ago. I'm interested in maybe getting back into it.
Thanks!
