How do you deal with bootlegs that have different titles on the cartridge and title screen? Do you use the title on the cartridge, the title on the cartridge, 'cartridgetitle (titlescreentitle) whatever else.example', or 'titlescreentitle (cartridgetitle) whatever else.example', or something else?

Side note: How do you indicate a piece of software is unlicensed?

Generally the standard is to go with official release artwork for preference. I would usually go in order of preference Box Front --> Box Back --> Cart / Disk / Tape Label --> Title Screen (if no other indication available).

Obviously for things like version numbers etc. this information can be pulled from elsewhere if known.

Unlicensed software should be marked [p] per TOSEC Naming Convention.

[edit to add] I think there are cases where there is disagreement as to "official" naming of title, there I would generally use the [more info] tag to include the alternate title(s).

Got it. Thanks.
