Right way to rip? (Sega CD, mostly)
« on: July 31, 2016, 06:13:13 PM »
Hey there! Is there a preferred method for ripping Sega CD discs these days? I've read through the old ripping guide from 2007 and looked at the DATs (both IMG and ISO) to get a sense of what TOSEC is putting out there these days, and I decided to try using CloneCD. I'm ripping a known good dump, but my CCD/IMG/SUB sets aren't matching up with what's in the DAT. I know I could just "acquire" these dumps by other means, but I'm just testing to make sure I can properly rip known discs and have a good, verified method down before I backup (and probably release, assuming they aren't just 1:1 matches for the retail releases) some pre-release Sega CD discs.

I don't see any spot to enter my drive offset in CloneCD, but I'm not sure if that's a factor with this specific piece of software. Anyway, any additional guidance or a pointer to any updated info would be great. Keep up the great work, everyone.
