Question about the CD Ripping guide
« on: September 12, 2009, 03:25:38 PM »
Hello,

I'm following step by step the ripping guide.

Step => Ripping audio tracks with EAC
I setted EAC as described in the guide.

Press F4 (or select Action → Detect Gaps). A little pop-up showed up.
"Detecting Pre-Track Gaps...Track 1"

No move since more than one hour.
The CD is composed of a mode2/2352 data track and 20 audio tracks.

Is it a long process ?
Is the "Method A" for Gaps detection is the only one acceptable or can i use the B or C one ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks for your answer.

Harlock.

I think you'll have to wait for idoru to answer, I've done all what the tutorial said with my Aminet CDs (amiga dats) and they all had same CRC as the ones in TOSEC.
I'm not familiar with the CD dumping so can't really help with it.  :(

Detecting gaps shouldn't take anymore than a few seconds to a few minutes most of the time - certainly not anything over 10 mins.  It can be a problem on some discs/drives though - both in terms of time (eg. it never finishes detecting) or detecting correct gaps.

You can try Method B or C (the guide does mention this), Method C is usually rubbish though!

Thx for the answers.

Switched drives.

My Ultraplex scsi drive seems to have problems with EAC (I tried all the 3 gaps detection method).
But my pioneer dvd-r burner worked. So.... ???

I will continue my test and if all goes ok then i will have some contributions for the tosec iso project.

No problem, some of the Pioneer drives perform quite well ;)
