Ah, to become one of the chosen few you must pass a series of strenuous tests that will challenge your mind, your body and your soul. You will be pushed to your very limits, and then some more….

Many have begun this quest, few have even survived. Those that make it thru are battle scarred, but prepared…..

Oh, there’s also a minimum US$10,000 joining fee…. PandMonium can provide the PayPal details.

:D

Nice explanation Cassiel :P
Well, "TOSEC Member" status is nothing special or awesome to have. It just represents the group of members that are interested in the project and contribute (or tend to) regularly. That said, you can also become a member if you want to, it's not mandatory to be a renamer, I'm not one for example.

If you stick around and are interesting in helping us out by contributing with your dumps, creating some useful guides (like how to correctly dump DOS games, based on your and vicvan research), renaming, helping in many ways in any work that is needed then you became a member, even if you don't have the tag yet :)
As Cassiel said, (in a funny way), there is not a list of requisites you have to do or achieve, is simply based on your interest and time. If you want to help and be part of the team, there is always room for motivated and valuable people.

I would like to help you.

I could maintain Neo-Geo dats and to make some dumping guides. I'm going to dump some NES undumped titles (I'm waiting the arriving o a CopyNES) and I'm scanning all my stuff (Boxes, manuals, and so on).

But, I think, my most desired aportation would be to write a ruby on rails based web collaboration app (I'm currently working on it) to help you to organize, maintain and expand all the data you've collected. This could automate the dat file creation and it would allow us to collect more data "a la" wikipedia's style.

For example. People not involved in this project could add or correct data and then we could add these changes to the database or reject them.

I think it would be nice to integrate the data collected by www.worldofspectrum.org, http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777, No-Intro and many other groups in order to make this project the one of reference in the scene and, by collaboration with other people, to expand it.

These are my thoughts.

I'm busy atm but will answer you better later if needed. If you're interested, we are interested in your help too, feel free to contribute!
Your ideas are nice but it is a complex project with a lot of details, my suggestion would be for you to start looking at unmaintained dats of your interest and TNC in order to understand how it works and how you can contribute :)
Will pm you took with some details.

I'm doing that. Some dats of minor systems are very precaious. I've readed TNC guidelines.
I'm interested in maintain Neo-Geo for now. I think I can share the work with Aral. I can help with PC and NES.

:)
