Ripper006, you are always up to something!

Deep thoughts by captcpsc,

I find it interesting. But, I guess it's not so much.  When I was in college the saying always was those that can do; those that can't "teach".  TOSEC can easily become an obsession just like anything else in life; and depending on the actual part of TOSEC your obsessed with would be the reason you're not on here posting?  I'm sure there are the ones that are playing the games, there are the ones that are ripping and preserving the games, renamers, set maintainers, etc...  But there are many other hobbies where people do it and talk about it lots?  I wonder what things in a hobby(maybe even job), are present or absent that coincide with active discussion (busy forums etc...).

captcpsc ponders these and lifes other big questions :-)

I don't know correctly how those dats started, Cassiel long ago worked on them and after that mek1 (he is registered here) worked on them (mostly Sharp). He said the current ones weren't good and started working on them but disappeared again so currently i guess no one is...

... and yes, in no time it will be an year without releases again.

I recently downloaded Sharp X68000 WIP dats (leaked??) from UG and was curious about this one.

BTW. I have 11 gb archive of PC9801 games that's why I ask. Personally I don't have to much knowledge about these systems besides whole archive is in japanese. All I can is translate names to romaji.

BTW2. Is Sharp X68000 really so small game archive? Comparing to amiga or even Atari ST it is very small.

Yup those are probably the dats i was talking. They still have some tnc errors and things to be done (afaik) but mek1 disappeared, he must have leaked them there with the sets.

As for the size, i have no idea about how much stuff is available but probably the TOSEC dats are far from complete, no? It happens in some other systems too, although i don't expect many systems to match Amiga in size since that's one of the biggest we have here.
Well, any help is appreciated and Sharp is currently stopped with that problem, if you would like to help feel free to do so. Translate names to romaji is already something that most of us can't :)

Yes, they were leaked.
and I would not recommend there use.

Sharp X68000 is MUCH bigger in volume than currently represented in TOSEC. It is another platform woefully under-represented at present.

edit: to fix a small typo :P

I'd be surprised if there's much more out there. I know some specific games that were missing from mek1's release, but not many. The Japanese release list I have doesn't even reach 700 entries. In terms of commercial games that are featured, the X68000 set is probably in even better shape than the PC-8801 one. It's just a guess, it'd be interested if there's a list with missing stuff. The other Sharp computer sets are obviously missing lots and lots of games.

I suppose I might take this opportunity and ask if there's an interest in images for two other (western) platforms,  I've got a few for Amstrad PCW and Epson Qx. I can't determine if these are good ones, the PCW is emulated and many work on the emulator JOYCE, some don't apparently because of copy protection or other issues.
