Title: C64 Turbo Tape dumps
Post by: Retroplay on January 08, 2014, 03:37:26 PM
I was given some C64 turbo tapes yesterday which I successfully dumped using my 1541U-II and 1531 datasette.

I don't know if there's anything rare, but none of the .prg files are recognized in latest C64 [PRG] dats.

Archive includes 85 prgs.

So far, 85 files; 9 files already in the collection; 74 new!

74 isn't too shabby either.
I'm just glad the tapes still were in a good readable condition considering the age (25+ years old). :)

I've started a few and they all seem to be working. Once decrunched they should be easily matched with existing files and added to the collection. Anyways, I'll add them to the next release. Thanks again.

I've dumped another original tape version of Moon Crisis 1999 published by Euro Gold.
Moon Crisis 1999 (Euro Gold) (http://www.mediafire.com/download/te1lf3gt1pya6iw/Moon+Crises+1999+%28Euro+Gold%29.zip)

It uses a different loader than the version included in the Games [TAP] dat.

More original TAPS with different loaders:
New dumps (http://www.mediafire.com/download/3bb1ugsbdhdrwdp/More+original+tapes+for+c64.zip).

CoverGirl Strip Poker (Danish) - Looks like it's the danish version already in the collection, added my dump anyway just in case.
Lightforce (1987)(Hewson-Rack it) - Different FOUND screen
Olympic Skier + PacManic + Blaster [Triple Decker 7](1988)(Alternative Software) - Doesn't seem to be in the TOSEC soup
Shao-Lin's Road (1986)(The Edge)(Hit Squad)[Ocean Loader] - Uses Ocean Loader unlike the other TOSEC TAPS
Return of the Space Warrior (1986)(Alpha-Omega Software) - Also couldn't find this in the current TOSEC collection

All TAPS tested and verified. :)

[edit]
Scans added, just in case they're needed for correct identification.
Lightforce, Olympic Skier & Return of the Space Warrior (http://www.mediafire.com/download/812f9iha0x0exae/Scans.zip)
Moon Crisis 1999 (http://www.mediafire.com/download/nhuspmetbw5u8at/Moon+Crisis+1999+scans+300dpi+%28Euro+Gold%29.zip)

Here's a fresh batch of C64 taps.
Download here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/a8taojlg7ay0lmg/Fresh+C64+taps.7z).

Includes Tai-Pan (Ocean) and Battle for Midway (PSS).
I don't think these two are available in tap format anywhere else.

I'm not sure about the rest of the lot, so I included those aswell just incase.

TechnoCop (Kixx re-release) original tape dumped.

My datassette is a 1531 + original 16/+4 -> 64 adapter in mint condition and is aligned to this particular tape using Headalign v1.1 by Onslaught, yet it still fails to clean/verify in TAPClean.
However the tape loads and the TAP created on my 1541U-II also load and plays in VICE.
Idk if it's worth adding, but you can grab it here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/oho87gzsdu94oty/TechnoCop.7z).

[edit]
The original tape dump in GB64 extras also fails in TAPClean.
I think my dump is ok but the loader isn't recognized or fully supported in TAPClean.

@Retroplay.
when I dump C64 turbo tapes I run the Tape64 tool after:
http://www.cheaters-heaven.com/component/cheaters/35966/PC/tape64-v120-c64-tape-conversion-tool.html

Using the following batch script I put the tape64.exe with the .tap files and this script. Execute the script

Tap2t64.cmd
Code: [Select]
REM Script by M4dz
CLS
@ECHO OFF
ECHO TAP2T64 batch script
ECHO ---------------------------
FOR %%f in (*.tap) DO CALL tape64.exe -i:%%f -e -ot >> log.txt
echo
ECHO ---------------------------
echo done!
PAUSE

The script quickly outputs t64 files + adds to the log showing if some files are good or bad.

For originals I run them through tapclean, which again will let you know if a tape is good/bad.

you probably already know these tools, but writing it here if some good spirit falls upon it.

keep up the great work btw :-)
