Hi at all,
I wrote to the moderator of wikipedia. Here are the reasons for the removal of the article:
"mainly missing is the lack of independent sources on the subject and the elements needed to see that the eligibility of the page WP:CAA are met"
I need your help, the English version is as vulnerable as the French version ...

Bloody Wikipedia mods... how exactly is that any different from GoodTools's article for example? Grrr..... this is why I don't give them donations anymore.

OK.... leave with me, will have to add some more 3rd party refs etc. Once (en) is 'up to spec' we will hit up (fr) again.

Thanks Crashdisk for chasing this up.

I was going to say the internet archive / wayback machine but they don't seem to have a copy of http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOSEC.
Said that, i think the focus should be in the english page to make it as complete / updated as possible and to avoid a similar destiny.

By the way, some years ago i was doing coding some academic work to contact google books search engine and found out a book that has a small reference to TOSEC - Gaming Hacks, 2004. If you guys want to cite it, i guess it will be one more "independent" source not related with us. [link: http://books.google.pt/books?id=zrqz84QUuSEC&lpg=PA49&dq=TOSEC&pg=PA49#v=onepage&q=TOSEC&f=false ]

By Simon Carless? It's already cited.... that's what makes the French Wikipedia Mod's attitude even more annoying.....

I believe Wikipedia actually still saves the 'removed' pages (at least for a time) it's more simply about getting their 'blessing' to have it reinstated as an active article.

i think the focus should be in the english page to make it as complete / updated as possible and to avoid a similar destiny.

Agreed.... thanks for your offer of help though Tim2460, I'll shout if you can do anything.

I loosing my last revision (and source code) but i has this:
http://n0vitrash.free.fr/TOSEC/
The source code of the page is maintained by wiki but the real problem is the legitimacy of the page as it stands.

I've updated our official TOSEC Wikipedia page for release v2012-02-29.

I've still to add some extra refs to keep Wikipedia happy.....

What kind of refs should we use if there aren't many? Should i describe the "project i work on" in my "personal homepage" and link it there?
I really do not understand what we are supposed to do :s

Nor me exactly... need to investigate some more (but time is issue as always). We always have EAB to link back to as well.

Think French mod just being an idiot frankly.....

Not this stuff again... What do they expect us to reference that is better than the original source? :|
Just saw the list of references for a bigger, most organized page: the MAME wikipedia entry and there are a lot of references to mame, mamedev, dev blogs and other similar primary sources too, which seem logical.

Ideas?

I could maybe throw up a separate blog on external site that has TOSEC 'updates'. Pointless really though... would be much the same as at tosecdev.org.

So stupid when you look at MESS, Goodtool etc that we 'relate to' that are EXACTLY the same situation.

Yeah that sounds stupid and probably wouldn't solve it. What do they really expect us to do? The other projects you named haven't been warned yet, have they?

http://wiki.romcenter.com/doku.php?id=links:datafiles

That might help a little, although it might be better to discuss it with Eric before posting it to Wikipedia. Perhaps other emulation sites / tools (ClrMamePro, RomVault, Romulus) have similar links that can be used?

Also, since Eric is French, he could perhaps help more with the fr.wikipedia issue too...
