I have rewritten/expanded our Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TOSEC) from the existing couple of paragraphs.

Still to be added:
- separate ‘list’ articles with all catalogued systems per branch
- longer/more detailed history
- a right hand list box (with logo etc)
- expand ‘Online presence’, e.g. chat (is the TOSEC Efnet channel still in use?)

If anyone has any comments or additional ideas for content (or a newly roused desire to contribute to the article!) then get in quick.

Once done, I’ll post a news item about it.   ;D

Really REALLY great work :)
I once put that on my TODO list but apart from small editions to add the new tosecdev link and other stuff i've never done anything. Your update is really good, congrats.

Obviously our project is something legal, we just want to catalog history and don't provide any illegal materials, don't know if that should be highlighted there.
As for the stuff still to be added, i may try to help you out by providing some lists and other details maybe, some i already provide in XML but just ask if you need. I can't give you any guarantee since i'm really busy/involved in academic stuff right now but will try :)

As for the online presence, yes we still have the IRC chat, currently we are ate ForeverChat under #tosec2.0 and #tosecdev.

Also, if you want to and have the time, you can update our articles too (history, the project and so on) at our website since your English is a bit better than mine :P
Then you could quote that in Wikipedia correctly ;D

Yes, meant to add a ‘MAME’ style legal disclaimer to list too – forgot about that.

Wasn’t sure about including details of our Usenet group (i.e. drawing too much attention to it) but left it in since it was already there. Still not sure it’s a good idea tbh – thoughts?

Yes, I can update the website too (I have necessary permissions already?) but unexpectedly busy this week so all this will have to wait a few days anyway…  :(

Yes, you should have permissions to do it. At any article over the website you should have a small icon near the title to edit it, should work but it could be broken since we changed our server in the last days :P

OK, good to know.

Hopefully will get a chance over the weekend to finish this off.

I have updated our TOSEC Wiki page:
- Added a simple infobox with current release info etc (we seriously need a proper logo!)
- Added some stats (eg how many sets, size, number of DATs in last release)
- Expanded the TNC section
- Expanded/amended Online presence section

TODO:
- Add Wiki info into TOSEC website
- Add supported system lists for each branch

good work :)

About the logo, i guess we will keep this way for some time. The older one(s) was fugly and too "casual" / "amateur". Since i'm also not *great* at design i just did the one that sits on top of the page [1] instead of the blue older one.

To use a new "logo" / "label" imo it should be something actual and more professional / formal, instead of something more unformal / infantile (i'm probably expressing wrongly here). Since nobody currently has the time and especially the know-how to design our mark atm i don't see that changing soon.
In other words, i view a logo as part of our "trademark" and symbolizes our project, just like what happens in serious projects, companies and so on. So,it would need to be a well made and interesting logo instead of a title with lots of colors and old game pictures around (like the ones pleasuredome uses).

What's actually wrong with this logo? Personally I like it. It's clean and simple. Maybe I'd put "The Old School" together with "Emulation Center" at the bottom... just my opinion.

Ah, I tried to use that logo but Firefox wouldn't recognise it as a picture (so wouldn't download it).

I totally agree. I have a friend who does this sort of thing actually. I'll ask her if she would mind knocking a couple of choices up for us (with 'payment' in wine no doubt...). I'm thinking something simple & clean, but distinctive. No mini smiling Mario's or Sonic's or anything like that!  :)  Let's see...

Diaboł  - agreed, always thought that (not that I'm knocking your Pablo Picasso skills PandMonium!). Do you still have the original 'elements' PandMonium? Would it be possible to amend (for now) to have 'TOSEC' on top in big, and 'The Old School Emulation Center' underneath, smaller.

If not, it's no biggie...

Updated for Release 2011-01-19.

I will post a proper new item about our expanded Wiki page in a day or too (don't want to 'push out' the big release news yet!).

I'm sure Ripper006 has recreated the TOSEC logo.  I thought i had a copy of it but just give him a yell for it :)

The official TOSEC Wikipedia page has now been updated for release v2011-12-29.

I have also made a few minor corrections, as well as adding Romulous to the list of DAT tools.

FYI - If there are any French speakers around, or indeed the original author himself (Crashdisk), it would appear Wikipedia (fr) has removed our TOSEC page. If anyone can help to get this reinstated (and protected from future deletions!) then it would be most appreciated...
