Question on TOSEC-ISO sets
« on: August 15, 2012, 02:49:29 AM »
I love all of the work TOSEC is doing to preserve all of these great games and software, and have been downloading many TOSEC torrents to build a personal collection of sorts out of 1:1 images of all these amazing games.

However, the tosec-iso.org site went down, which is sad news since I have been waiting for torrents to be updated for various systems especially the new, revamped TOSEC-ISO collections (Dreamcast, Sega CD, CD-i, 3DO, etc.), and have been checking the progress for each system as well as which titles are missing.

What is the current status of the TOSEC-ISO project? I know that this site and the creators of TruRip parted ways, so will the sets be redistributed under the old ripping method or will the current torrents with TruRip images still be updated?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I love the complete idea of these sets and want to know what to keep downloading to have a complete set for each system.

Hey Geraldine and thanks for being around.
It's not easy to explain it but you got the idea right. The guys responsible for the new dumping method (called trurip) apparently have some problems with their dumps being datted and decided to change the name. If you're still interested they are now at database.trurip.org. Meanwhile the old dumping project (the TOSECISO, which was initially hosted by idoru at toseciso.org) has slowly faded away, Maddog is still redumping Dreamcast games and so on (they are near complete afaik).

As for the TOSEC project, our work is to organize / catalog (as in create dats) to roms floating around so only the future knows which sets will be datted in the next years :D

Thank you for the link above.

So just so I'm on the same page: TOSEC-ISO is defunct and TruRip is "unofficially" picking the idea up to release sets their own way? Or is TOSEC-ISO still alive and is going to make their own set of rips?

Thanks again for the help.
