Hello! I know this is a weird first post, but does anybody have any information on how this particular ROM was acquired? This is basically a 32x ROM (hence Sega Mars) with a spinning Sonic model. I asked Chris Senn of senntient.com, who was at SEGA STI back in 1993-1996 and he told me he created this model on his Amiga 3000 for use with some gameplay concept animations he did and apparently used as a test on the 32x.

Does anybody know how this was acquired and subsequently included in TOSEC releases? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
f2bnp

Hey,

I've no idea and doubt anyone around here knows much about it. Are you asking about the dumping process or how someone got access to the original media? Since we only catalog roms, i suppose the dump/dump information appeared somewhere (in other website? datting project?) and ended up added here as all other sets. Still, Cassiel is the maintainer of that datfile. At least he should know where he found the file (once he reads this).

Howdy. My question is on how someone got access to it in the first place.

Reason I'm asking is mostly pure curiosity, but there's been a surge of popularity on Sonic X-Treme again due to some new releases and this is directly linked to that project, so I'd love to know more about this :).

It was part of a bunch of demo programs for the Mars (as it was then) which I were (found on?) or donated from an old dev unit. I*think* they were originally hosted on GerbilSoft's now defunct site, then passed on to me.

I'm really struggling to remember the story though, was a long time ago! Will have a dig and share any info I might have still...

Greetings! Funny thing, I turned on notifications to this topic just a couple of hours ago to make sure I don't miss a reply.

Thank you for taking time to reply Cassiel, sounds like an interesting story, please do share more info if you remember any details, so that I can maybe bother someone else  ;D. I'd like to see how far back I can go.
Could you give me an estimate on when you got hold of these approximately?

Again, many thanks for your reply in the first place!

2000 I think, but think those ones were found to be bad. Proper dumps where around 2005 *I THINK*.
