Atari 5200 files
« on: April 16, 2022, 09:41:14 PM »
Hi,

here some additions to the 5200.

1) Combat II "demo" released at: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/17851-z-adventure-and-combat-ii-binary-demos/?tab=comments#comment-187485
If through the demo is (C) 2003, the post with download was available in Dec 2002. I'm not a law expert but should be freeware. It also could be seen as a beta-software. Please correct if other rules apply
Code: [Select]
<game name="Combat II (demo-playable) (2002-12)(Mean Hamster Software)(FW)">
<description>Combat II (demo-playable) (2002-12)(Mean Hamster Software)(FW)</description>
<rom name="Combat II (demo-playable) (2002-12)(Mean Hamster Software)(FW).bin" size="32768" crc="2e3d0ad9" md5="79c090031225a8cd0e4e181c496eefaf" sha1="038d0ca61d0e1c17fb322957a2afa91fcca17546"/>
</game>

2) DEBUG52 V1.10 released at: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/3236-5200-debugger/
sadly the linked page is down :-(. The Application has also a Copyright but was free to download so FW.
Code: [Select]
<game name="DEBUG52 V1.10 (2002-03)(Johnston, Jeffry)(FW)">
<description>DEBUG52 V1.10 (2002-03)(Johnston, Jeffry)(FW)</description>
<rom name="DEBUG52 V1.10 (2002-03)(Johnston, Jeffry)(FW).bin" size="32768" crc="2a4b17c6" md5="acdc9791977ef7e440226668daa66cf0" sha1="626b398cc2103db6e6b57027e5091d0755506236"/>
</game>

3) 5200 Doom released at: https://atariage.com/forums/topic/11577-5200-doom/
sadly the linked page is down. It is a tech demo, i don't have the source anymore but was according to the post released - thus PD
Code: [Select]
<game name="5200 Doom (2002-07)(Johnston, Jeffry)(PD)">
<description>5200 Doom (2002-07)(Johnston, Jeffry)(PD)</description>
<rom name="5200 Doom (2002-07)(Johnston, Jeffry)(PD).bin" size="32768" crc="9c846b4c" md5="08d747dc30d259ea092e9a82d4e56eef" sha1="6c91197fad5f47e4bcc50241520a0dca270cf656"/>
</game>

Brilliant, thanks for your contributions! On first glance these look good and compliant with TNC which is excellent.

Looks to me like you've made the right call in terms of the copyright flag for each of them. On the first one, while not explicitly specified in TNC, my belief is that the (demo) tag generally excludes the use of development status tag and that you've made the right decision not to use (beta) here.

I'll make sure these are added to the DAT for next release and that you're credited as a contributor.

those entries don't seem to be added to 2022-07-10 release :-(. Could you please point me to the issue?

The honest and simple answer is a failure on my part - I forgot to include your contributions while prepping various DATs for the recent release and can only apologise for that.

I've got your contributions sitting now in my WIP folder for next time so there's no chance of them being missed again.

In terms of the two files which are no longer available from their original source, presumably you have the files to hand to be able to give the hash values. As they are freeware / PD, it would be great if you could upload them somewhere like archive.org and provide a link so that they're not lost to history.

Apologies again for missing these and thanks for your contribution.
