I think it's nice if you want to make an AMOS gamebase for example or an AMOS CD32 compilation, such info might not be usefull for everyone but I'm sure some people out there like it.
For me its not a valid reason, we could put much more info in the filename, like artists, number of players and so on, also nice for a database then.
Anyway i dont remove this flag.

Football Director II (1988-10-20)(D & H Games)
= Football Director II (1988-10-20)(D&H Games)[AmigaBASIC]

>:|

(Unless it's the updated version which might not be coded in Basic, but then it would also be multilanguage)

F-15 Strike Eagle II (1991-06-10)(MicroProse)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr CSL]
= F-15 Strike Eagle II (1991-06-10)(MicroProse)(Disk 2 of 2)(scenario disk)[cr CSL]

(Game & disklabel call it scenario disk. Probably goes for all other versions too.)

Indiana Jones and the last Crusade - The Graphic Adventure v1.4 (1989-10-04)(Lucasfilm)(Disk 1 of 3)[h Pirates Heaven][cp manual code]

Sure it's not [cr QTX]? Pirate's Heaven might be the name of a BBS or Quartex just called themselves like that. Also, although tested with a A500 and A2000 configuration, the game tells me there's "no disk present in unit 1".

I think, it dont make any sense, to add disk labels to a 2-disk game.
It is more than likely, that you have to insert the other disk, if you get a disk request, dont you think so?

I didn't know this diskname flag is only for games with more than two disks :<

Edit: Just noticed that on Jinks, the second disk is called "data disk" too. So either drop that from Jinks or add it to Strike Eagle.

There's no rule that says how many disks need to be there to allow disk labels, in some cases it's usefull e.g. disk 1 is datadisk and disk 2 is intro+game disk.

As TKaos stated, there is no fixed rule on that. It was a major topic of discussion on TNC and i'm not to fond of it but Media Label flag can be used even without having any media flag. I know it may sound stupid and it actually means you can use media label in single disk software but i guess there may be some cases where it makes sense, don't remember if some was given at the time.

Another question:
Bubble Ghost (1988)(Accolade)[v Butonic v3.00]
There is no virus on Disk anymore.
The virus has been deleted.
You can use various tools to undelete the virusfile.
Anyway, in my opinion the [v] flag should be removed.
Different opinions?

Well, yes if the image has been cleaned of the virus then [v] is pointless.

BUT... unless the image is back to being a byte correct copy of the original disk (unlikely, no AV is that 'perfect'), then I'd assume [m] is more appropriate...?

I thought we shouldn't create even more [a]lternatives, because the database is already a mess?

I thought the whole point was to name all files how would u know the alt u didn't add was the better one?
for eg a disk label gives a alt so half way through the game it goes insert scene disk and the labels have been changed and doesn't work.
But the alt u didn't include had the right label name.
Best know version should be first then others afterwards imo.
Aim is to identify files right?
Try this as your wallpaper if you are new :-) http://symmo.net/tosec/tosectnc.png

You missed my point.

I once read Tosec wants to add every version of any game in its database(s), even the ones with altered highscores etc. But everybody at Tosec knows that this task is annoying and requested that people don't send in their slightly altered versions. Now instead of leaving a piece of history with a virus on it as it is, the disk/ADF was cleaned and thus we now have a new entry, as the old one shouldn't be deleted. Because Tosec then should do the same with all [a] and [v] files, not just on a selected few.
