ZX Spectrum WIP by Vaxalon

Ello again folks, back from the depths & working on the spectrum again.:)

Fairly big overhaul + using your new directory stucture.

At present I have two focuses, but, these to tend to reach to the other dats.

Namely the TZX games & TRD files, TRD being a bloody nightmare.

Also...just an idea really, ill see what you think.

There is a format called RZX, that works with spectaculator, basically the file is a recording of a game being completed, which can be played back. Works within Spectaculator only at present I think.
Very very useful for spectrum folks IMHO.

Obviously though, they are not truly games, but recordings of games. Even so, im quite tempted to make a dat of these.

What do you think?

Good to see some Speccy love again, it was feeling abandoned compared to the massive work being done on the Commodore front.

I am not too sure about RZX. While it's an interesting concept, there are a few niggles. Especially if it's a specific emulator thing, it's probably too limited in scope. Also, it's not fitting too well at the TOSEC-Main branch which catalogs actual code pieces. Maybe it could find a place in PIX though?
Waiting on further opinions.  :)

ah i did a little digging around and..
http://www.rzxarchive.co.uk/
i suppose, if i were to do it, i would name the files based on the person who recorded it.
Its more than one emulator apparentely, so thats good, 3 listed there I think.

Kinda agree with Maddog although i now nothing about the format. It's not really some piece of software from the ZX, right? Just recordings done on emulators today. Still they probably could/should(?) be preserved somehow, no?

Re RZX

This has come up a few times before. Have to say, my opinion is still that these sort if emulator support files are not suitable for the main collection.

Now that TOSEC-PIX is ever expanding into various software related resources though, it may be a good fit for that. Maybe one to discuss with Aral.

PS: I know I've said it in "other places", but welcome back! I've not forgotten about getting some more stuff over to you, just need an afternoon to get it done.  :)

Hahaha... well don't overload yourself. No need to take on too much too soon!

Even if we can just fix up some of the existing DATs, that's a massive step forward... Anything a bit more complicated (scope wise) can always wait.  :)

I would appreciate it if you could do RZX as their site has a lot of 'Distribution Denied' because of people like Codemasters who are still holding on. The RZX file actually contains the game so you can stop the replay and play the game, that's why a lot have been denied. I'm not sure how you would get the denied RZX's (these are what I wan't) because they are some of the best ones.
