Is someone still maintaining the mods/music database?

As far as I know it was dropped, don't really know why.

Is there a download link to it? Preferably a format that can be read by Romcenter ;D

Humm i had the .db somewhere but i don't know where it was used, maybe TIM? I guess i could try to use it / export dats if i found it but it will probably not work / be broken, could also export them myself but currently don't have the time to do so, maybe in a couple of days/weeks i can have a look at it (if i find it) :P

Yup, that was not the last version.

I don't know which was the last version and just have a music.db here that was used in TIM and it is from around March 2005.
From a quick look at both i can tell you that organization of both is a bit different (not sure if it changed or was due to cmp dat creation). The dat Symmo posted has 31 sets, each representing a complete dat/system with all the roms inside. The TIM music.db had the sets separated instead of using a single set to group all system/datfile roms.

Symmo post (2004-12-06 music dats):
Code: [Select]
Datfiles: 1
Sets: 31
Roms: 17555
Size: 305014315 bytes = 290,8843MB

music.db (2005-03-25??):
Code: [Select]
Datfiles: 33
Sets: 18460
Roms: 18677
Size: 325965966 bytes = 310,8654MB

Extracting dats from this db shouldn't be hard at all but i don't have the time know, anyway would be cool to know what was the last version of it :P

Well i actually got a eggman Music collection in 2008 so i just made a dirtodat of the tosec stuff.
And yes was a Tosec music and a Tosec music unknown which is small so its looks like it the ones from tim version u have there.
Eggman would of had the lastest i take it ?
Anyways uploaded a dats here http://symmo.net/tosec/Tosec%20music%20(dat).7z
All files are stamped 08/18 and 17/07
So i am sure its all covered
Music is http://symmo.net/tosec/Tosec%20music.zip (still uploading atm) 236 megs.

I didn't know there are dats for so many systems, I thought there was only a half-assed dat for Amiga/mod tracks...

I finally checked my mods with all three dats (Tosec music, Tosec music unknown, Tosec 2004). The Tosec music unknown dat recognizes a few files that the other two don't, strange for a dat that is named "unknown"  ???

What does the "seq" flag stand for, followed by a name? Sequencer? The person who converted the music file into another format?

I was not part of TOSEC at that time (of the music dats) and don't know many details about them. Maybe the unknown was just a dat full of music sets not yet renamed (similar to what happens with Yoshi's dats?).

As for the "seq" flag, i have no idea, you are talking about more info flags, right? Currently on TOSEC dats there is no set using it, i guess it is something related with the music files or something that is no longer used, maybe Cassiel or other can give you an hint.

No idea, I always stayed well away from these music "DATs".... they were always a massive pile of shyte from what I remember (and personally I found them pretty pointless anyway).

Probably why they were dropped hard....
