Game Boy DATFiles appear to be woefully incomplete
« on: December 07, 2013, 09:12:12 AM »
So I just downloaded the latest DATFiles, and have been using them to audit my collection. All well and good, until I got to the Game Boy ROMs. For some reason, there are only 84 entries in the Games DATFile for the Game Boy, despite Wikipedia claiming over 800 games for the system. Link's Awakening, Super Mario Land, and Tetris are nowhere to be found, but "The Incredible Crash Dummies", "Waterworld", and "Zool" are all there. Also, the file extension for all of the ROMs is .bin, not .gb like basically all Game Boy ROMs these days.

What's going on here?

What's going on, I would suspect, is that nobody's had a chance to work on it for a while - the DATs don't happen by magic.

I did add around 600 games to it a while back, but didn't get the DAT uploaded / verified in time for the last release. Should be in the next one, if all goes according to plan.

That makes sense. If it's still incomplete by the next update, I'd be happy to help out. We could make an effort to complete the entire thing or something.
