As far as Im concerned...dupes
« on: May 10, 2013, 10:30:12 AM »
Something i have been wrestling for, for quite a while.

Bearing in mind that i work primarily with the spectrum stuff, as I know it fairly well.

Something to remember here, is that while games were copied on the spectrum, games actually "hacked out" with hacker loading screens, were pretty rare in the grand scheme of things.

Anyway, the problem.

Pick a certain game with ..oh...6 alts.

On examination, all six of those, are conversions from the same tape, owned by six people.
Same...everything, no pokes, no hacks, just six people converting the same game, from the same source.

How exactly do i differentiate these?:) Using the TNC anyway. I've always felt the TNC stumbled abit here.

Hmmm... not really an issue with TNC, just an unfortunate state of affairs with some media.... wish everything was IPF... hahahaha

Not sure what to do about this, weather to have a clear out of these pusdo-dupes or if we stuck with [ a ]'s.... anyone who deals with this issue already want to weight in? Commodore/EAB boys?

What about you Duncan? Is this a similar situation you face with C64 images?
