GordonJ, member of TOSEC ISO and software developer extraordinaire has just made a new ROM management tool come about, which might serve as what TIM was once supposed to be.

Indeed, it is surely far from being perfect for now (then again, when was TIM ever) but at least it will help you update your TOSEC set without hassling about with 1111 DatFiles in Clrmamepro.

Check out the awesomeness of his creation and become a beta tester here: RomVault.com

Hi bierbaron,

I was already aware of it by talking with GordonJ at irc (ForeverChat), it looks great and going by what he told me it should also work as expected.
AFAIK dats should be placed in the dats folder with the same hierarchy as the desired roms folders. That and the ability to scan various dats at once make it sound very useful and if i was collecting i would give it a try Smiley

It shouldn't be compared with TIM since TIM was planned to do a lot of different things and ended up doing things the way we know. Tongue
RomVault should be seen as an alternative to clrmame pro with some nice and new features that could make it perfect for managing large numbers of dats / collections using less time (one scan vs N dats a time instead of one scan for each dat) and giving you a nice easy to use GUI.

I'm not saying it is great and didn't even tried it but the features available sound great and alternatives are always welcome Smiley

From the screenshot it looks confusing. Maybe the icons to the left could be placed elsewhere as the column is half empty Huh

The buttons were moved there for popular demand Smiley

I'm not saying I'm with the people tho. Keep in mind that this (especially the GUI) is still work-in-progress. GordonJ is looking for input, check the RomVault site for contact info.

I have several ISO sets and some PIX sets, and I havn't found any problems on those either. The only DATs I've had issues with are from sources other than TOSEC (generally anything that contains files larger than the zip file limit, and a couple of ther DATs - aes from MESS for instance). For everything else i've thrown at it, it seems to perform perfectly fine.

Does RomVault support 7zipped files? As in renaming them and the content inside?

I dont think so but it could always do what clrmame does and call it externally i guess.
could always just use torrent7z after to i guess for now .
